This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Well, you can assign a lambert shader and then for the texture just press file. Go into the file settings and click on the folder, find the pic you want to use and then press 6 to bring up texture mode. I suggest pressing 6 before all of this, just to make sure your in the right mode.

Edit: Oh, and the technical term for this is reference image, its what you use as a guide for your modeling.

Create plane
Right click on the plane and select assign new material > lambert
From the labert attribute editor, select the option box to the right the color channel slider
From the create shader node dialog select file and navigate to/select the file you want to use

Well you may be trying to put up the wrong format, I dont think maya does bitmaps, so maybe try JPEG. Just go into paint, open your pic your trying to use and then press save as and for format type select jpeg. Make sure you use the jpeg one for maya though.

Um. yeah, trust me, practically any computer can display an image. Hmmmmmm, ill post a video on what to do ok? I should have it up by the end of today.

Edit: Since you are using the hypershade are you applying the texture to the geometry? Check that also. But in the video ill do it in a different way.
