Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

i still think a lighting challenge would be the funnest.

Each person gets a random page number and has to compile a scene using any or all of the models on the page. shading and lighting.
https://www.turbosquid.com/Search/?ke...e=0&page_num=1

That would actually be quite fun, and would be quite creative too, as there would be a huge amount of possibilities with the amount of items on each page. Screen grab of the page you were allocated as your first post would be a good rule, nobody would be able to claim their page looked different because of monitor size etc that way.
I would consider coming out of temporary 3d retirement for that challenge, or another one depending what it is!

I think maybe using 25 items per page, Dom, you'd still get good variety, but not too overwhelming to pick stuff out?

hey! yeah my challenge idea, a last hurrah!

cool so...
Its like i said before, get a assigned a random number page and use any or all of the models available. you can modify the model or change the texture (or not bother.)

final entries will be scenes lit and rendered from the assets you compile. user added image

i can use a number generator to assign the page numbers. I think the default 50 models per page gives you enough scope to work with.

simple.

Well even though it has probably been done before might I suggest a challenge revolving around superheroes?
It seems a very popular topic nowadays.
If we are going through with ..I am picking Batman user added image

I have no idea about prizes, but I am not into these things for the prizes anyways.
Now I am always struggling timewise so if it was up to me I would have an enddate which is around the beginning of September.

As groundrules I would say:
endresult must be a rendered image, fully textured and posed( no T or zero G pose)
Superheroes only
Work in progress thread is mandatory

With regards to judging I would say a 25% vote that comes through a poll and the other 75% through 3 judges.

After viewing daverave's Ocean Scene thread, I think an underwater challenge would be great.

I am unsure on the particulars, but the technical challenges an underwater scene brings would be really challenging user added image We could have it based around a particular type of fish, or each person could have a different underwater environment. For example somebody has in the amazon another the great barrier reef...?

Either that or a Street scene, where you have to model, light, texture and render a street...

Thanks daverave, that would be great.
Maybe the rules could be that you have to have at least three 'technical' (unsure of correct term) elements within the scene. Caustic light, particles, fog....
