Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Urgent help needed

Hello all, I currently use 2011 and I was working on a company project for around 48 hours, just now I BSOD and now when I load up my file it says

amm. if it is showing wireframe of all objects, it could be a problem of shader. so, try to apply a shader any shader like lambert or blinn to any of your object. first try this. If object become solid then all is fine. do this for every object. after that optimize your scene for that go to file> optimize scene size. make sure remove duplicate: shading network is checked.

It looks like something to do with the render layer manager. Do you have any render layers set up? Can you post the script editor code after just opening the file (not doing anything else)?

Thank you that seemed to work adding the shader again. Noticed though that its deleted all of my work the last 2 days. Not just the texturing work but the actualy models as well. Searched in all my temp folders etc and nothing in there. Luckily I have an autosave from before I started the texture work so at least I dont need to model them again( around 10 pieces), still 2 days worth of tedious texture work is hard to take in.

Thanks again.

good user added image. Always remember that whenever you start a project preferably save your files in maya's native "name.#.ext" format. Keep your machine always clean ,free from viruses.
keep on saving file again and again in increment. Most important when you have done alot of mesh work in viewport always arrange your objects by renaming them and adding them in layers. Try to group the objects so that outliner stay clean and make sure that there should not be empty groups or empty transform nodes in outliner if there are then delete them. whenever you optimize the scene from optimize scene size option its good, but sometime unused empty groups and transform nodes stay there in default cache of MAYA which are always visible in outliner. so delete those. If you follow these tips you will hardly face any error. user added image

Happy rendering user added image

Thanks, yeah wierd thing is I am always clean when modeling, always deleting historys, unused groups etc.
I have been suffering from BSOD lately although its a new PC, and although I have BSOD while working its always booted up fine. Ive been saving every 5 minutes due to habit. Then as I mentioned I BSOD again but this time it corrupted my file, and all the texturing work I have done the last 2 days was lost, alongside the models I was texturing. The rest were all recovered, I had to get the models from an autosave file but of course will need to texture them again.

Never had this before so was a little bit of a shock lol.
