HELP !!! MAya isnt doing what its ment to do deformed meshes and stuff

i have no idead how to explan the first one but look at the picture and u will know thats not ment to be happening

but why the hell is it doing this ?

and there is no way to get the manipulator up even if i click it from the tools menu

i dont see the problem in the first image...

and in the second, its probably in the preferences somewhere

I'm going to guess on the first one. If I understand correctly, you need to create edges to go from the corners to the center, Then pull up the center vertex.

On the second one, try pressing the letter "t" after extruding. That should also cause your manipulator to appear.
