Setting maya plugins back to default

somehow all my plugins got set back to unchecked. how can i reset back to the default things that are originally checked when maya is loaded? thanks

try deleting your prefs folder in the maya directory.

will it get restored if i delte it or will it screw everything up? Does anyone just know where the default maya plugins are that are checked when its installed? for example, what is the metal ray one called?
