Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

You'll need to deform the texture to comply with the object.

Or, convert to polygons, and you can conform the object's UVs to comply with the image.

Is your texture square?
Adjust uv in the hypershader placed2dtexture node.

SO much easier to use a polygon. Is there any particular reason you are using a nurb?
