Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Jan/Feb Challenge - Character - Norm

Hi everyone. I know I'm really late in entering (I joined the forum not too long ago)... but here's a start.

My entry will be a female warrior in a kind of post-apocalyptic setting. I might alter the hair and weapons (depending on poly count in the end)

I'll quickly start the mesh and update ASAP.

Cheers!

Derek

PS. I've been a Maya user for about 2+ years so I'm going to post as a NORM just in case. If i'm incorrect in this matter, let me know!

some pics of my model

Mr. Bojangles> I based my model on a compination of the FA-MAS and a sniper rifle (I can't remember which one, though I think it was a S&W model).

Here's some new WIP images of the model SANS hair at the moment. Approx polycount 2600+

Hey, nice job so far. user added image Looking forward to more. Her lower arm seems too big or her upper arm is too small (or a combination of the two).

mtmckinley> y'know... i just realised i made the mass of the forearm too close to the wrist. it should be a part of the elbow joint.... thanks for pointing that out!

cheers!

Really looking good over all though. Can we see a wire ?
I agree with mike about the arms, and maybe the knee's are a bit smallish in back ?

Thanks for the feedback pony. Here's a few new pics. I've beefed up the gloves a touch and added more definition to the face, neck, and clavicle. As well, moved the mass of the forearm to the correct place. as well... i'm going to beef up the arms a bit... she kinda has a chun-li body from the origional street fighter... user added image

Looking good. user added image She doesn't seem to have much in the way of a rib structure.

hey!

I was thinkingg that since she's wearing a jump-suit of sorts, i'd skimp on the ribs/abs and paint them in. the extra poly's will go into the dreads in the hair.

If going for low poly, I'd see about getting rid of some of the mass that it's in the middle of her back.

Quads (with a few triangles for details). if i triangulate it's about 5000... which can be trimmed by cutting the polys in the back of the eye, on the back side of the belts.
