Tumble/rotate

I have had this problem with Maya 7 since I started using it at the end of last year, what is happening is most of the time if I rotate the camara around my object it works as it should but every now and again and tonight is is realy bad instead of the camara going around my object, my object goes of the side of the screen and i can only bring it back to the orignal position by moving along the timeline but if I try and rotate again the same thing happen. I want to work on my model tonight but I can't becauise I can't rotate it.

thats not a probelm with maya, its that your center of rotation isnt where you think it is, thats all, nothing is wrong... if you want to fous in on and object and make thatthe center of rotaion press "F"
