Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

New to Maya, creating glass..

Hi everyone,
I am new to Maya, however i think i am in a gooooooood way..
I've created a glass in maya using

polygon cube, blinn, transperasy and a cool color that makes it look like a glass. But as i saw many glasses have a different color at their edges like blue..so i tried using nurbs cube and put another color in every edge. After rendering though (in very high quality with shadows...) i get something like a lines on the glass like cubes.. do you have any idea what's going on?

P.S the brown color is a wood under the glass..

Oh, these lines weren't easy to see, but now I get it user added image

The "cubes" you are referring to is the "squares" I guess.

If your glass material doesn't have a map on it (which I guess you dont have), then it has probably something to do wtih the material underneath the glass. eh.. render the scene again without the glass and see what you get, take a look at the shader in hypershade and take a look at what color map it has. If it is wood and not wooden tiles, then I dont know why you got the unsuspected result. But I'm still a newbie.

Thanx, undseth i've solved my prob.
and thank you NitroLiq, because with this site i'll be a ble to create more realistic glass..

Well, the prob was the bottom pice of glass (as you know i used nurbs cube), i just erased that and was ok, but if i want it to be like a cube i don't know what to do...maybe this site will help me.

Thank u.
