Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

The right way to deal with Bevel ?

Hi folks,

When i bevel edges i often get unwanted edges (the ones that go from side to side of the arch), do you recommend to delete them ?

Personally, I don't use the Maya Bevel tool. I would recomend that you bevel the edges by hand. It gives you move control over the outcome. But back to your question, yes, you should go back in after beveling and clean up any unecessary edges.

I have only recently started to use the bevel feature in maya (DOH!!), it works ok, but you definitely have to clean up the extra unwanted edges that it produces. If you go round and delete the extra edges it produces nice clean bevels.

cheers
