Strange - persp in not using all space available

When I use the persp view, maya only uses about 1/3 of the space available. I cant explain it. Are there some settings where i can change this?

Ive made a screenshot of the problem. The red line shows until where the area which i can use goes.

I would be pleased if anyone could help me
