Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Hi Dave,

It looks good. Only problems that I see are that the lips kind of look like rolled clay right now. They don't have the proper shape. He also doesn't have any eye lids. There is also a small bump in the side view as the eye blends with the rest of the head. Smooth that out a bit. Also the transition from the nose to the cheeks look a bit strange. Smooth this out a bit as well.

The other thing is just a small problem with your edge loops. The loop around the mouth, that defines the laugh lines, should start at the top of the Alae. Make an extreme face in the mirror, and you'll see that it starts there, instead of the bottom of the nose like you have now.

Looks good. Nice job.

Hi meredith
I assined a shader to the face mesh so I could change the transparancey so to see a referance photo on a image plain. the ear was made by deleting the polys in the ear area then extruding the edges in following the shape of the ear as best I could, then I extruded more to get more detail then added edge loops to lift the ear out, still needs more work.............dave

The ear is too far back on the head. Move it forward a bit
