Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Loookiin' goood! Is this some bad ass poly grooving going on here? Is the detail done by splitting and then extruding? Or have you used extra objects and "glued" them on?

Wow. I have to agree with the amount of detail this thing has. And to think that its only on its preliminary stage! Are you measuring the sizes of each parts or are you just doing it eyeball style?

[icarus_uk]: It's a combination of many different techniques. Most of it is taking from the original geometry and simply subdividing, cutting, splitting, extruding. The rest is built seperately then 'glued' on. I'll see if I can get a wireframe up tonight so you can see how I'm doin' the gluin'. :p

oregeeizm: Like most of my work, it's coming off the top of my head. I'm trying to follow what you see in the concept sketch, but the rest is being done as I go.

What I have realized by doing this: The more pre-planning you do the better. The model was built in a few hours following the concept sketch. But now that I'm just adding to it, it's going a lot slower. If I had more stuff conceptualized beforehand, I would probably have been finished by now. Ah well. Live and learn. :p

There's a vulcan cannon on the front. Actually haven't put anything on the bottom rear, after all, this is supposed to be a lightly armed freighter.

As for the textures.. boy, you aint kidding! It's going to be hell to map all this stuff.
