Joining poly edges part 2

hmm, this is what happens when I join edges of a newly grouped object... why?

Thanks again for any help

- also if anyone could answer my previous question that would be cool.

dont join edges, combine them and then use the snap vertices tool to get the two verts you want to join completley lined up. Then use merge verts with a very small distance setting and it will work fine.

hold down v and move the vert with the move tool. It's a snapping tool

x = snap to grid
c = snap to curves
v = snap to verts

there are a couple more aswell.

thanx the snap works fine, but if you look at the above pic whats the transparent grey area? because its joins to that but when I move the now combined vertex's the lip stays in one place but the grey patch moves with the point its just been joined to... i feel I may have messed up somewhere along the tutorial...

you need to merge all of the verts, it also sounds like not all the pieces are joined properly.

Post more pics explaining what you mean.
