Hypershader material icons

I've seen a trick where you can replace the shere icon in the hypershader with a render of the object with that material. However I cannot remember how to do this, nor can I find the tutorial that showed me. Anyone know how to do this one?

Thanks.

Sure!

It is called "Grab swatch to Hypershade/Visor".

Just open your renderview, and do a test render of your piece.

Then, in the View menu of the Renderview window, at the bottom of that menulist will be that command.

Click that, and the directions will prompt you at the bottom of your renderuser added image

Just make a selection of what you want, then middle-mouse-drag it to your shader swatch in your hypershade, and viola!
