It's for an abstract intro to the Emerging Technology video for the 2004 Siggraph confrence this August. All those piston things are going to come out of the main sphere. Then the sphere opens up and projects a video.

here ya go... The full model is made of both polys and nurbs. Most definatley not a low poly setup. Before cleanup, Im sitting at 175,000 faces. That's counting all the nurbs being converted to polys. By the time im done with all the inside details, I'm aiming for somewhere around 250,000... got to keep the renders under 3 minutes per frame.

You know it reminds me of a detailed shot of the little practice sphere that Luke was fighting blind folded in the first Star Wars.

How do you get the awesome lighting? Is that texture+bump+displacement or just some magic lighting setup?
