If I were you I'd hunt around for a monitor at that price that a) has good reviews and b) has the highest resolution you can get.
I've got a 19" 1440x900 and it is generally good but I'd much prefer something with a 1600x1200 or similar resolution so that you get more on screen - which is very useful for 3D modelling user added image

i think ive found something of interest...

after checking ebay for the dell monitor they are all 279-700$ so thats a no-no...

BUT

Acer AL2016WBbd Black 20" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824009108

it looks good, its price is easily in budget and, 1680 x 1050 resolution, the only problem is that there seems to be no problems with it at all... spooky...

its funny actually the 19" i was looking at was $179, they had this monitor there for $349 but at newegg its $169...

BTW: does newegg ship outside the US?

I wouldn't buy Acer, they have a reputation for being very dodgy.

Dodgy as in they will get dead pixels, stop working and have all sorts of problems. Their quality is pretty bad too.

I'd check out Viewsonic. I got a 19" widescreen for $200 through Buy.com a few months back. ViewSonic has a good reputation from what I've seen. I've got two of them at work, and one at home, and haven't had a problem at all with any of them.
