Paint poly tree

Hi there, Can anyone tell me how to paint my poly pine tree on to the ground staying in the vertical direction I can do this simply with a default brush tool I know! But I just need to use this one.
When I convert my brushes to polys it creates loads of faces and in my village scene which is a huge file I need to keep polys down for exporting. Many thanks.

there is a script on highend3D that will duplicate and randomize your object. This should help you out. Or if you have Maya 5 than you can use tree mesh brush than convert to polys and than Quadrangulate the mesh.
