Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

texture bleed when model smoothed

Hi,

I've created a model and added a texture along the top and a texture around the side. When I smooth the object it adds an extra line around the side and causes the texture from the top surface to stretch onto the side surface.
Is there any way around this or is it dependant on if the textures overlap their own edges on the color map?

as a workaround I've just added a cut on the geometry really close to the lines where the problem is occuring. It means extra polys but that really isnt an issue at present.

I THINK the problem occurs when you smooth it because it also smooths the UV's and makes them smaller or bigger. I think that u have to turn the Smooth UV's option off or keep the map borders on or somthing. Hope this helps user added image

just seen this Some Guy, thanks for the extra info.

I'm guessing that might have been the reason for the smoothing problem. I'll give it a go on the next high res model I work on if it happens again user added image
