Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

uv mapping????

user added image

i got here a polygon that was properly textured via uv mapping,
after tweaking and satisfied with the look i converted it to subdiv,
my object has a duplicate w/o texture iwant to transfer the texture to the second object, i baked the texture of the first object and assign it to the duplicate, but when i rendered it the texture did not shown in the rendered pics. do i need to map it again????
or am i missing something?

thanx

Your duplicate probably has a different UV layout than your original. This means that the texture will not show up correctly. You can do one of two things. 1) Simply duplicate your original again so the duplicate will have the same UV layout -or- 2) Try to map the UV's out like the UV layout of your original. I don't think there is a UV copy thing, but woulnd't it be nice if there was?

Yes there is (Polygon -> Transfer) but the models needs to have identical topology.

the second object is a duplicate of the first, so there is no
need of "Polygons > Transfer. Select UVs in options".

the thing is, isn't it that if the original's texture were baked and apply the baked texture to the duplicate the texture will show up because they have thesame topology?

can't get this thing, by the way thanx for the help,
i'll just remap it if it that is the case.

thanx to all
