Lambert Image Problem

Right...So i just got my new software (Autodesk Maya 2008) and I started on a tutorial for new comers here (Basic Human Form) but when i go to drag the image into the plane i can't... it won't let me... Is it the fact that there is an error somewhere or is it the updated software because i have noticed some differences from my version on the way things are used! user added image

Please help!

What do you mean? Do you actually set up the material and connect the image to the material, but it won’t apply to the plane?

Can you post any pics?
