Perspective viewport gets black and gray

Hi everybody, i am pretty new in Maya, just using in the last week. I am having a problem in the perspective view: when i choose the selection by face or vertex and try to select something, the view turns black, sometimes part gray.
I am using Maya 2017 on a Mac (10.12.6 operating system). What can I do?

It looks like closing and reopening Maya solves the problem temporarily. But it's still boring..
