Resolution gate stretching....

If I change my render globals from say........340x480 to 1000x1000, I get stretching of the resolution gate and in the render....This doesnt happen if I click on the 1k square setting and then change it to 1000x1000, but why doesnt it change when I just type them in to begin with.

I think it is because your aspect ratio is all out of wack. If you want 1000x*** try 1000x750. most aspect rations are about 1.333x1.000, so your image will have to streach itselfs widthwise. Kind of like when you full screen a widescreen dvd when you don't have a widescreen TV.

You have two different ratio settings, one is the pixel ratio and one is the device ratio, if your pixel ratio is 1000*1000 and your device ratio is 1.333 you will get stretching.
