Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Adding different textures to debossed surfaces

Hi,
I'm creating multi-sided dice with recessed number characters using actual geometry (displacement map then baked) and want the recessed numbers to have a different texture to the rest of the dice, as you'd expect. The issues are that the dice have to be relatively transparent, so i can't just float a coloured plane in the recessed area and the polycount is going to be very high, so 'painting' the debossed characters would be too messy and time consuming.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated!
Dan
