Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

M-Audio Midi Keyboard

This is a model I did for class, its an M-Audio midi driver. Lemme know what you guys think. Is there any way to retain a hard edged extrusion on a mesh that is going to be smoothed? I was having a helluva time tyring to make hard edged areas for button recesses...even if I add edge-loops etc..

As you already mentioned, it's all about the topology of your work, you want more defiinitions then your going to have to start adding more detail, such as edge loops and extra divisions around the surface.

Your on the right path.
