Open Challenge -Jerry Can Texturing

This is an open challenge to anyone who fancies it.

Texturing ctbrams model of a jerry can.

It can be any style you want, you can add to the model if you like, but the deadline is this weekend.

I've UV'd the model but they are not perfect. So feel free to change the layout combine maps or whatever.

Here is the file

try some lighting if you like or shall i do a version with a 3 point light setup?

hmm, tried some different maps on this model and there seems to be some problems with the UVs and smoothing.

had a go at fixing the problems. ran out of time.

* the only problem i was having was baking maps in mental ray the texture generated had some artifacts in it.

It should be fine for the purposes of the challenge. There is a new body for the jerry can which isn't really working either. It just has some extra geometry. Its not finished but both models are in the group.

I tweaked the geometry and laid out the UV's. Here is a render with basic color and bump....

I am sorry about the minor error in the geometry of the original model. I re-routed some geomtry then did not put the edges back in which I am sure caused the uv'ing problems in the original model.

I have cleaned everything up and refined the model. You can get all the project files on my drop box site.

How does the bump look?

I really wish I knew how to paint. How you get the darn paint and rust over metal look. It drives me mad because I can't paint anything I model!
