Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Jessica Alba portrait.

Just completed this portrait of Jessica Alba. Although I'm not completely satisfied with it, I'm calling it finished. Was inspired to do it after seeing someone do it over at GFXartist.com. After a couple of hours of searching, I found the reference the artist went from. All I can say is Jessica Alba is hard to do. Maybe it's because of the lighting and dark background, but I had a difficult time getting the facial anatomy to look accurate. It's still off a little bit; but overall, it still looks pretty good.

Anyway, I decided to post it to get some feed back. Maybe you can see something I cant.

Looks really nice! The only thing I can see is that the top of her nose seems to be a little too much to the left, possibly not enough of a curve around the bridge,on the right hand side, but maybe that's the way the reference image had it so sorry if that is the case, and also a slight too much glow at the corner of her lips and under the chin, but apart from that looking pretty damn good! Keep up the good work THX1138, I look forward to seeing more in the future!

Cheers Dango77! user added image Thank you for the C&C! I think the bridge of the nose you pointed out is one of the problems. I did this piece a little faster than usual ( about a week ) instead of my normal 2 to 3 weeks. I think I will go ahead and do an update this weekend. Too tired to continue it today.

BTW, I have some other 2D projects posted here in the finished work forum. Just search back a few months and you can find them.

Thanks again for the C&C!

Good work!
I really like the way you've captured the expression.
The only thing that's bugging me is the shoulder. I'm not sure what it is but it kinda looks off. maybe a bit to high.

Cheers Some Guy!user added image The shoulder in the reference is like that also. It's the way she's laying down, and thats what causing the shoulder to look so high.

Ok, here is the final image. Worked a good deal on the facial anatomy and shadows. The shadows were a major pain for this whole piece, and they were causing facial anatomy to suffer. I'm pretty satisfied with this piece now.

let me know what you think.
