Anyone know any tips on how to create a realistic candle?

I read alex alvarez's tutorial but im not to clear with it.

Any other tips or links would be appreciated

i think i would start with a poly cylinder with a decent amount of subdivisions along the height and axis, then start extruding some faces along the lines of a wax drip (make sure to have 'keep faces together checked!'), then smooth it and take a look... not bad!

Accept no substitutions.

thanx strider, but i was looking more for advice on the flame itself, sorry dude. My bad.

Anyway, yeah, so if anyone knows how to create a flame for the candle that can be animated then wicked.

Flame

i worked around it the hard old fashion way anyway, but creating a nurbs object, texturing it and changing the attributes, adding glow, incandescence etc.

Rigged the flame up and away i go.

probably saved on render time too. Not perfect but not too bad i guess. Wouldve preferred a more natural approach but unless i get a brainwave, this will have to do me for a bit until i go to tweaking.
