Landscape deformation

Hi Everyone

I've just moved over from Max to Maya (new job). Anyone got any tips about how to quickly deform subdivided planes into rolling hills?...in Max I would of used the paint deformation tool. In softimage I would of used Lattices..(max lattices were not much good -Mayas are a bit unfriendly too)

Any ideas most welcome.....preferably without texture distortion...maxs paint tool was excellent for that..

regards

-Mikey
