Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

bump map distortion after smoothing

Wondered if anybody could help with a problem of my bump maps becoming distorted once I apply smooth to an object. any straight lines that I have created in a bump map file become very distorted and stretched. Anybody know how to resolve this without messing about with altering the UV's?

Hi,

normally adding extra edge loops to the object will minimise stretching once you smooth.

If you added an image it woul be easier to inidate where they should be added.
