Managed to progress a little with the hair. It's all fairly basic geometry at the minute and there is shed loads to do:

its all trial and error at the minute. I got a bit more detail done last night. It still needs more volume in the hair but I'll come back to that after the flow is in place.

Looking good Tick, really just a thought but if you texture are you going to join the beard and hair into one mesh? just so that that way you can have the "grain" (dont know if thats the right term) of the marble running through, without any messy texture placements?

Like I say just a thought.

Good job you brought that up as I'd not really thought about it. I think for a realistic stone look the whole head, hair and beard might need to be attached as one unit so that, like you say, the textures will run smooth. It'll be an experiment once the time consuming hair and beard are complete user added image

No probs man, you could always project a texture onto it if it got too messey then bake it on??

Here's another minor update as I've been real busy recently. The whole left side of the hair is effectively done now except for some tweaking and the edges. I'm going to duplicate this area for the right side and then go in and move some of those strands about to get the look right and blend in with the front right hair which sits differently. Then its mr beard time... user added image
Next time a bumpmap or an excuse to get zbrush might save a lot of time!
