Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Glass Shader - how, when, what

Hi ive been learning maya for about a month and feal i understand the basics of modelling and have been able to model the objects i have tried quite well. Now im trying to learn texturing. I have modelled an after shave bottle with seperate models for the outsurface, inner surface and fluid but i havnt got a clue how to shade them. I have found a great tutorial however i dont understand how they made the glass shader. From the image i think they used the hypershade to create materials and linked them - but this is where i get confused why do you link materials, how do you do it etc.

Basically is there a tutorial that goes threw in detailed the steps involved in making a glass shader

TY in advance
Mark

Maya comes with several glass shaders. Have you taken the time to open any and deconstruct them?

they should be in the hypershade, "shader library" on one of the bottom tabs.

that is if u installed them, if u didn't u have to install them b4 u can use them.

They are on the cd. If your using Maya ple, I don't think there is any way you can get the shader library except for buying ple on cd. I think it costs like 20$usd or something. They have a glass shader free for download if your registered (free) last time I checked. They have many others too.

Heh, just sign in and go to downloads section. Select Maya complete (or maya unlimited or ple whatever), second drop down select shaders, third drop down select OS. Search. They have a bunch of glass shaders, on page 4.
