Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

problems with installing GI_Joe.

Have everything else figured out except for the last part, creating shelf icon from the script editor.

When I type in "source GI_Joe; [enter]" GI_Joe; [enter] no window pops up to let me drag the icon onto the shelf.

I think you need to edit that one file, to set the path for your script..

look at the installation instructions again..

change your \\ into /

Like this :

string @pathL = "c:/Documents and Settings/My Documents/Maya/4.5/scripts/GIJoe.lights";

the use of \ is a windows thing, and MEL often wants it the good old UNIX way so make them / instead user added image

I hope it will do the trick.

Didn't work. Keeps saying this:Error: file: C:/Documents and Settings/Ob-1/My Documents/maya/scripts/GI_Joe.mel line 59: File not found.:

Why it's saying line 59: File not found , I don't know.

Why I use netscape? It's because I keep having to log into simply maya when I want to post a message using internet explorer. Strange I tell ya.

Cali, I dont think that's the way your suposed to use it.. / may be a UNIX way, but it's also a WWW thing so I think that will cause more problems...

and since when does MEL relate so much to UNIX that it wants us to do that?

anyway...THX1138,

why is there 2 different Paths?

in the Maya Error is shows:

C:/Documents and Settings/Ob-1/My Documents/maya/scripts/GI_Joe.mel line 59: File not found.

and in the Notepad you have:

C:\\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\Maya\\4.5\\scripts\\GI_Joe.mel

so first of all, you dont have a Ob-1 where the user is supposed to go, then you are missing a \ RIGHT after Documents...and why doesnt maya Show the 4.5 folder??

hmm... try putting only one \ instead of the \\ in the path.... see if that works... sometimes it does
