I'm not sure what you mean AbsolutelyWhite. Can you rephrase your question?

Rephrasing in progress.......100%
Is there any way of getting for instance Max (from Max Payne), into Maya and change him or animate him?
Of course Max Payne is an example..can this be done with other games?

there are some ways to import export.

i only know about the ut2003. it has a ple, and you can export maya to the ut2003 editor. not sure if you can do it the other way around, not sure about that.

Some games were developed with certain packages, as well as custom file formats that the developers may have created for themselves that Maya won't necessarily be able to recognize.

Some games yes, some games no. Mckinley is right. For some games, you will never open their stuff. Almost everyone else has it sealed up or something. You need to either import it or get a program that "opens" whatever file they use for the model. When you open it, you can pull out the model file thingy, which Maya should have no trouble reading.

I hope.
