Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Random Face depth extrude

Hi,
I am wondering there is a straight forward way to randomly extrude faces to different lengths only, while keeps the face itself fairly flat.
I noticed the idea I was looking for in the new title sequence of Game of thrones at the Wall.
I was wondering if anyone knew how to achieve the effect?

The second image is my attempt but the faces themselves get distorted.
