Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

I think ctrl+m brings that back, if not hold down the space key and access the prefs through the hotbox.

how does one forget about the hotbox.
Its always there being annoying,
Unless i actually want it to show up.
and then i use it so rarely that i cant help but to think to myself " Where is what i am looking for again."

yeah, the hot box is kinda redundant, if you have a working menu bar, which i didn't. my merge verts hotkey is ctrl-alt-m must have missed the alt

eeeh?

it's a lot faster using the hotbox than the menus because the hotbox is shorter distance from the menus... means you dont have to move your mouse so much

may not seem like a big difference to you guys but if you spend a second going to the menu and half a second going to the hotbox and you do that a thousand times... you just gained an extra 500 seconds for lunch

go use the delete edge on an edge and tell me which way is faster?
going edit mesh > delete edge/vertex
or going shift + right click + little drag

the first way takes far longer than the second.

but yeah... the space bar marking menu is annoying user added image

I have a shelf set up with all of those common operations, And a mel script i use to rip my shelf free, so it basically floats in my screen where i need it to for the time.

I'm trying to start using Marking menu's in my work flow more for some things. but I'm having a bit of a problem teaching myself new tricks? LoL

yeah, it takes a while to get use to things that dont appear in other apps!

you don't find it annoying having the shelf in your workspace all the time?

I'll usually only have the shelf, toolbar, status line, channel box, and the command line visible when I'm working (at least for modeling).

I've never really used the hotbox myself, but some of the other artists at work use it a lot. I guess it's just how you learn.

with a 32 inch workspace, its hard for the shelf to get in my way, and being as i can rip it off and make it float free, if i want i can drop it on my 2nd monitor.

1080 p

soon to be 37 inches x 2 ( I think, i might just get two 32 inch monitors , OCD requires that i get two of them, so that i can have same model and brand , my current one is discontinued so. )

Non the less, soon as i get my taxes done, and filled out, I'm getting 2 32 inch 1080 p hd tv's, or 2 37 inch 1080p's, and 2 full motion wall mounts, so i'll either have a 62.5 inch desktop, or a 73 inch desk top ( measured in width, not quite sure how i'd call the diagonal. )
