Poly to Subdiv and back.

Hi all,

Got this weird thing (prolly some little on/off switch thing).
When I'm modeling in Polygons and want to switch to subdivs to see the smotth edges, and circles become really round, it kindda stays in polygons but a little smoother. If you're not sure what I mean take a look at the pics. What am I doing wrong, need I do some"refreshing"? and if yes how?

Any ideas?

press 1,2, or 3 depending on how smooth you want it 3 being the smoothest
