Empty shader bins

Is there a script out there that can delete empty shader bins.
We have files that have loads of bins that need deleting but you have to do them one by one. Then after about 3-4 deleted bins Maya crashes, a bit time consuming to say the least.

Can anyone write one?

Cheers

I think there's a Maya command: delete unused nodes to delete unused materials, not sure if that's what you're looking for. I'm not familiar with "shader bins".
