Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

PC upgrade... Can

Alright... I´m drawn between 2 solutions:

MSI K7D Master-L Socket A, MP
2x AMD XP 2200+ or 2400+ (throughbred)
(CPUs wil be modded to suport MP)

or

Asus A7N8X Deluxe/GD Socket A
1x AMD XP2500+ (barton)

Neither of the systems are top of the line, but I need to upgrade from my 700MHz T-Bird, wich is starting to get old.

The first solution is more expensive, but I wonder if it is worth it.
What is the benefit of having MP over having single CPU?

Of course when it comes to rendering, the benefit of MP is there, but I have set up quite a decent renderfarm from other redundant computers (the old 700MHz will be added to this farm when I upgrade), so batch render-time is not really the issue, but more the general use of maya, like dynamic simulations, dense wireframes, heavy textures and stuff...

well alot of that would depend on your Gfx card
but dynamics calculation - fur-cloth etc would definatly benefit from 2cpus
