Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

That's a hard choice.. The first one makes the viewer think, "Whoa! I think it would be freaky to switch on a flashlight somewhere and see that first!"

The lighting in the second one makes the tragedy seem much more recent, therefore making it seem like whatever slaughtered the man is probably still nearby. Sam is now full above the tip of his on-end hair with fear, imagining that the creature, or ethereal being, will do the same to him very soon.

That's how I see it at least..

I'd say the second one. You can see the "forgive me more clearly now, and the horribly mutilated corpse adds to the atmosphere.

really nice work

i remeber silent hill 4 alot really and one more thing how come that his leg didn't fall to ground :p and still you have to stop making other lights casting shadows you have only 1 key light that the man is catching and the kitchen which will cast soft shadow.

Looking good. I'd say you may want to lessen the gritty filter effect you are adding.

Shadeblade,

You make some good points about the lighting. And I like the new or 2nd light better too. But i'm a little worried that the 2nd lighting is not scary enough (fearful).

Well i'm doing my bestuser added image

msb,

The leg is hungup in the chain, which is how the body got rip apart. I created new lights and deleted old lights, like the flashlight and light coming through the window, which before I had 4 lights, now I only have 2.

t1ck135,

I'm glad I am of some inspiration to youuser added image

Think at the moment it might have a few too many chains as it kind of distracts your focus a little.

Also as an idea, how about adding some grime or dust to the lightbulb which would naturally tone down the main light's brightness? Just a thought user added image

Great stuff though!

That honestly is one of the freakiest pictures I've ever seen.

I don't think that the brother would need his flashlight while the bedroom bulb is on though user added image

Wow, I just noticed a picture of Jesus at the head of Sam's bed.
That's a really good addition to the scene.

wow, i just noticed the jeebus pic too, that's awesome. Are you gonna add more clutter to the floor too? Like puddles or broken bottles or wadded paper? This scene is looking fantastic!
