Selection: How do i select only the surface of a model?

How do i select just the surface of a model? It keeps selecting every single face i select, but i only want to select the surface and not everything under it.

Not sure what you really mean... maybe you're in face-mode instead of object-mode?

whatever!

well let me explain again. Yeah I'm in face mode. I'm deleting faces, but i only want to select the ones i see, not the ones underneath that i dont mean to select. When I highlight a face, there's another one that i dont see underneat taht gets selected, and i dont want to select that. Anyway to avoid from selecting only the visible surface?

Ah yes... that would be the "backface culling" option... You can change it in the shading section of your viewport. user added image
