Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Half-Life

Hi,
I saw some real cool pictures of this Logo, so I thought tryin modeling it
in maya.
Don't mind the "textures", I never trained my 2d / texture skills.
So...?

Now I would like to make a "neat" -render, depth of sharpness aprecciated and so on...
Hope you understand.
Does anyone know how to do that?

Yep, Booleans.
It's basicly a deformed cube with beveled edges.

Looks like you soften/harden it or something. Since you really arent worrying about the poly count (correct me if I am wrong), why not just subdivide and smooth?

Edit: Or if you ARE using the soften/harden command, then mess around with it, dont make it to sharp or to hard.

the focus issue can be adjusted with the focal length attribute in the camera attribute window.

The lines may be cause by a couple of things.

One, Your mesh might not be smooth, and the distortions on the mesh are causing shadows.

Two, your lights might not be lighting the entire object. Click each light and select "Look through selected". Make sure that your object is completely within the lights range.

(Remeber to post wire frames of your work if you are having trouble with something. Especially distortion issues.)

I was going to say soften harden also, but then im wondering if maybe you could post a wireframe?

I was wondering if maybe your center part has to many cv's connected to those spots, so the renderer cant figure out how to make a smooth shadow
