Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world

Skin and joints move appart.

Hi!
Just rigged my first character (hunanoid) and skinned it.
I'v made a group node for everything to be able to move
the character anywhere I want and apply a walkcycle for.ex.
The problem is that the skin and the skeleton separates
when moved. user added image
Anyone know how to solve this?

you have to make sure your geoemtry's history is all deleted before you rig it. Good idea to freeze its transformations, too.
