image plane

I have a issue where I import my image planes and when I move the image plane behind the grid on the side view it is only doing it if I go in the positive direction. I checked other scenes I have done and they all are in the negative direction for the image plane in the side. The planes are lining up correctly but I dont know why it won't go behind the grid when I send it in the negative direction.
