Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Maya 2017 trouble with blendshapes

Hi,
I created a blendshape for my skinned character, but it will only deform the mesh correctly when the character is in the default position (which it was in when I created the blendshape).
If I pose the character differently, the blendshape will act as if the XY and Z-axis for the mesh are still the same as when the character stood in the default position. If I bent the character foreward and activated the blendshape, instead of expanding outward the chest would retract inward and move up.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I don't know if that is your problem, but try moving Blend shape down to hierarchy in inputs.

See picture.
