Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

I found this pic, ~1976. The place on the left is the one I was working on first. I'm not worried about having it exactly the same. I'll likely use features from the house (that I didn't use already) in the neighboring houses which were all slightly different.

I thought I'd make some changes. One thing that bothered me was that I was off by 2' in height per floor. I still have to go back over and fix the UV to reflect the changes I made.
The Green is the new geometry (not yet UVd).

Almost have the UV redone. Just a few little pieces to go. I also modeled the drainpipes.I changed the colors for clarity only.

been having trouble getting the brick right. especially around corners. It's taking a lot of time but I'm getting there.

It's definitely looking like a cool building. Are you planning on breaking it apart to go in with the "ruin" aspect of the challenge?

Oh yeah, there will definitely be some ruination by the time I'm done. The question is how will it come? Could it be fire? War? Alien Invasion? Volcano? Earthquake? Or did the people simply just leave, allowing time to ravage the civilization? Well thats yet to be decided. but there is plenty of time for that. Chaos tends to be whimsical.

I like the building you've modeled. I don't have any experience with glass yet but when you demolish this thing, if you can make all the broken glass noticeable but still blend in with the scene, I think it might look really cool.

Good job so far!

The brick work is much more difficult than it looked. I can't use a pattern because it won't match up with the geometry. The corners of each block has that staggered look (the bricks ar longer than wide, also no mortar can run vertically along the corners). The extrea effort is definitely worth it.user added image
