Model not aligning with the Skeleton

Hello everyone, I'm currently having an issue where I'm importing a model but the Mesh does not go into position with the skeleton rig, if you move the skeleton rig it does move the body parts, if anyone could help me, thank you so much user added image

Hello, first off just because you have an already made skeleton your mesh doesn't just automatically adjust to your joints. Joints have to be placed each time differently depending on your mesh.

Also, don't forget to select your root joint and then your geometry, now go to "Skin>Smooth Bind", that basically lets Maya know there is a connection between the selected mesh and the selected joints!
