a tool info at ->
https://www.maya3d.dk/Scripts/MJPolyTools/

most important for me is the -> Edge Loop Split.
watch this pic below. let´s say you want to split around this 6X6=24 cube. if you have to split every edge by hand you grow old pretty fast. and with real dense objects you grow old fast with long white beard. so pick one edge and do an ELS. it divides all the edges right in the middle. additionally you might open the channelbox pick your loopsplit Input and MMB move the Slide attribute. very handy.

have fun!

everything starts and ends in the right place at the right time.

if your using Maya 7 then you don't need MJ poly tools IMHO the new edge commands in edit polygons works exactly the same only you can use interactive placement, I have never ouched MJPoly since 7 was released

Alright guys, ive started off and been working on my model if i have some spare time (hardly any so far) and in making my model i have come up to the point of the head. For the first time i tried to see what Poly Smooth would look like on my model ... well my first problem has shown up.

user added image

Seems like i have bent some of the vertex down through my model, making a massive X across the top of the model, going down. Does anyone know how i can correct this?

you have vertices that arent merged select the areas where you get the V shape or valley in the model and hit merge vertices

I split the model in half and dusplicated the other half :| but tried the merge verticies anyway, but no luck.

The valley runs through the head right through to the bottom of the lower body (and where the legs are going to go).
