joint and skin help

i'm having problems binding the join to the skin. it binds but whenm i try to animate the character my skin parts from the joint. it bends away from the skin at certain angle. can anyone help me with that?user added image

If its smooth bind, paint the weights.

If its rigid bind, create flexors, or latices. Theres a good tutorial on www.mtmckinley.net
