Understanding BOT textures

Hi

I'm trying to convert to BOT files for rendering.

I am typing in the cmd line 'maya -optimizeRender [filename.mb] [optimzed file.mb]'. I am inserting my correct filenames as appropriate.

The maya output window flashes up briefly, but not much else seems to happen.

It creates a tiny optimized maya file in the maya directory, not the original file directory as it should be by default. There is nothing in this scene if I open it.

There are no reduced BOT texture files in the original file folder. The help says it creates them there by default. The original textures are larger than 512 x 512, which is the default cut-off according to the files.

Any hints of what I might be missing here are appreciated.

The render speed on the original file did halve, but it occupies the same space on the windows pagefile, which is my problem as I'm quite near the 1.5gb limit.

Regards

Graeme
